Somerset County, Md. – The Somerset County Health Department is hosting another Grocery Store Tour in partnership with the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES), Department of Human Ecology at Food Lion Supermarkets in Princess Anne, MD on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at 5:15 p.m.
Participants will learn how to read labels, shop on a budget, make healthy choices, and get food preparation tips. Tours are led by a registered dietitian from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Department of Human Ecology. Food Lion’s Guiding Stars, the nation’s leading nutrition guidance program, is also highlighted during tours. It uses a star ranking system, to educate shoppers on more healthy options.
At the conclusion of the tour, all participants will be able to select a limited quantity of fresh fruits and vegetables to take home with them, thanks to funding from UMES Department of Human Ecology.
