Westover, Md. – The Somerset County Health Department is requesting small grant proposals from community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, schools or other interested organizations for funding to implement youth focused prevention projects. Proposals that focus on Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) programming and proposals that focus on tobacco and vaping prevention will be considered.
The Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) project will be expected to use one of two evidence-based curriculums “PHAT-A: Promoting Health Among Teens!” ages 12-19 or “MAD: Making a Difference!” to youth ages of 10-19. All activities must be completed by June 1, 2020.
Tobacco and e-cigarette and vaping projects will be for activities and/or events that will engage and empower youth and educate them on the dangers of tobacco, cigars, smokeless tobacco, e-cigarettes and vaping. All activities must also be completed by June 1, 2020.
Proposals are due to the Somerset County Health Department by 4:30 pm on October 28, 2019.
