Westover, Md. – The Somerset County Health Department is the lead agency of the Homeless Alliance for the Lower Shore Continuum of Care Committee (HALS CoC). The HALS CoC is a group of individuals from Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester counties that was formed around the common concern of homelessness. Members include representatives from local housing programs, county homeless boards, area shelters, non-profits, service organizations, state and county agencies, local providers, foundations, faith community representatives, businesses, and local citizens.

The HALS CoC is open to all agencies and individuals who have an interest in homelessness and would like to assist the CoC with its purpose, vision and mission noted below:

Purpose/Vision/Mission

  • HALS CoC coordinates homeless services and homeless prevention activities in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties.
  • HALS CoC envisions a community where residents of Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties are free from homelessness and live in safe, stable and affordable housing.
  • HALS CoC addresses the needs of individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through collaboration, advocacy and resource development in Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties.

If you are interested in joining the CoC, please email Greta Rolland at [email protected]. The CoC meets monthly on the second Thursday from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. in Salisbury. The next meeting is Thursday, September 13, 2018, 12:00 p.m. at St. James AME Zionhouse Church, 521 Mack Avenue, Salisbury, MD  21801. All are welcome to attend.
