Westover, Md. – The Somerset County Health Department is launching a free, 6-week indoor walking program. Sessions will be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm every Tuesday starting May 21st at the Crisfield Library and every Thursday starting May 23rd at the Princess Anne Library. Sessions will follow a walking workout DVD program and be led by a Walk Somerset Walk Leader. The program is low impact, easy to follow, for every body, and all fitness levels. Those interested in participating in the program are encouraged to sign-up by contacting the health department at (443) 523-1719. Participants should bring comfortable, non-restrictive clothing, walking shoes, and a water bottle. Low impact resistance bands will be provided.
Walk Somerset is a collaborative effort by the Somerset County Health Department, Somerset County Recreation & Parks, Somerset County Tourism, Main Street Princess Anne, Somerset County Department of Public Works, and several other community members. Funding for this program is made possible from the Maryland Department of Health, Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Control.
