Snow Hill, MD- Get fit, lose weight, and improve your health with certified lifestyle coaches. Starting in January of 2020, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester County Health Departments are sponsoring the National Diabetes Prevention Program in a county near you.

The National Diabetes Prevention Program is a year-long, evidence-based program proven to delay or prevent the development of type 2 diabetes in individuals who have prediabetes or are considered to be ‘at risk’ for the disease. The program includes 16 weekly sessions followed by once a month support meetings for the remainder of one full year.  Participants learn about healthy eating, goal setting, physical activity, stress management, time management and so much more. All participants receive their own personal lifestyle change coach who will assist them with goal setting, progress, and overcoming barriers.

The program will be held in the following locations:

  • Mondays, 5:30-6:30 pm, ES Adkins Building, 801 North Salisbury Boulevard, Salisbury, Maryland. The program starts January 13, 2020. Call 410-334-3480 for additional information or to register. Pre-registration is required.
  • Wednesdays, 1:30-2:30 pm, Pocomoke Health Center, 400 Walnut Street, Pocomoke, Maryland. The program starts on January 15, 2020. Call 410-632-1100, and choose option 4 for additional information or to register. Pre-registration is required.
  • Wednesdays, 5:30-6:30 pm, Snow Hill Health Center, 6040 Public Landing Road, Snow Hill, Maryland. The program starts on January 15, 2020. Call 410-632-1100, and choose option 4 for additional information or to register. Pre-registration is required.
  • Thursdays, 5:30-6:30 pm, Princess Anne Library, 11767 Beechwood Street, Princess Anne, Maryland. The program starts January 30, 2020. Call 443-523-1700 for additional information or to register. Pre-registration is required.

 Eligible participants must live or work in Somerset, Wicomico, or Worcester County. Call to discuss program enrollment, eligibility, and to request a registration packet.
