Westover, Md. – September is Recovery Month and the Somerset County Health Department has scheduled two ”Ride Through for Recovery’ events. The events will be on September 25 at the Somers Cove Marina, Crisfield and on September 30 at Greenwood Elementary School, Princess Anne. Both events are from 3pm. to 5pm. and free to the public.
These drive through events feature local vendors offering resources and materials such as luminary kits, ‘I Support Recovery’ printed materials, informational literature on substance abuse services, and more. Talk to participating vendors and peer support specialists and get trained on Narcan all from your vehicle. Attendees will remain in their vehicle as they visit each vendor’s display and must wear a face covering while interacting with the vendors.
“We are celebrating recovery this month, and every month, to show the community that prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover from substance use and mental health disorders and live a healthy and rewarding life” states Shannon Frey, Somerset County Health Department’s Behavioral Health Authority Director.
Everyone is urged to show their support for recovery by wearing purple, decorating vehicles and homes in purple and attending these two recovery events.
