MCHP – Maryland Children’s Health Program

MCHP is a health insurance program that provides free health care coverage to children under the age of 19 and pregnant women of any age who meet income eligibility. MCHP enrollees obtain care from a variety of Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) through the Maryland HealthChoice Program.

MCHP Premium

MCHP Premium provides health care coverage at a low cost to children under the age of 19 who are not eligible for the free program.

Maryland Medical Assistance for Families

Maryland Medical Assistance for Families provides free health care coverage to parents/other family members caring for children who are eligible for MCHP.

APPLICANTS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP AND IDENTITY

How can I apply?

The application is brief and the process is simple. The application asks for general information and social security numbers for people living in the house, address, phone number, private insurance information (if any) and income information.

  • Call 1-800-456-8900 to have an application mailed to you
  • Visit the Somerset County Health Department or call us at 443-523-1740
  • Apply electronically at MarylandSail.org
